Another June 4 is here

Today, I go back in time
To remember this man I understood more just close to his prime
I remember the confidence
The pride with no decadence
Loved all, and all loved
Even pets and livestock can testify
After all, we spent some nights out with mosquitoes for their sake
With the dog all over us like it’d seen playmates

He was firm as he was kind
Never did a wrong judgement give
With him we knew laughter, smiles and fear
And the spanks, no wear nor tear
We put him to the test and still looked up to him
Thus, we all turned out fine today

We may not be standing at your bedside now
Singing a happy birthday to you, mama’s wrapped gift tucked away at our backs
But memories of the fondest relish we taste again
Wishing we did it again and again
For as long as we live to see another June 4

Not a perfect human but the perfect Papa for the Asogwas
And a worthy spouse for Gold
A priceless mentor that rocked our world with spicy moments
Wisdom did not only build herself a house
She made you a part of her household
Because what you represented
We cannot boast to be better representatives

You are remembered today, like no other day Daddy.
Happy Birthday AKAMHA I

  4. Fes....that was what my Dad called him. If not that, he hailed 'STOBA!!!!' when he saw him, and he will smile and reply 'BONUM ELIGERE'. They had gone to St Teresa's College together and that is their school motto. I remember vividly that he was always the star of the show on the two occasions the STC old boys met at our house. He was a great story teller. They would cluster round him as he made jokes about their school days and how 'Toruga' was crazy about soccer. Chidiebere got that raw talent from him and Nnaemezie snatched his astonishing brilliance. A man as such cannot be forgotten! We all miss him still. - Onyeabo Ngwu.
